From hay and straw
to a 44-tonne fleet
Doug Gobey founded the business in 1990, drawing on his agricultural roots transporting hay, straw and apples to local cider mills. Built on hard work, reliability and strong customer relationships, the company has grown into one of the region's most respected independent haulage businesses.
Since adopting its now-iconic green livery in 1999, Doug Gobey Transport has continued to invest in its people, fleet and reputation - expanding from general haulage into crane-assisted transport and licensed waste carriage, while never losing the personal, family-business approach that built it.
Today the fleet ranges from a 3.5-tonne dropside to a 44-tonne artic with sliding roof, moving goods for construction, retail, agriculture, waste and general freight customers across the UK and into Ireland.
